New York Live Arts’ dynamic platform of new and recent works by resident commissioned artists and curated guests. Presented during the annual Association of Performing Arts Professionals conference, Live Artery 2019 will feature excerpts of recently premiered works and work-in-progress presentations in the theater and studio.

In the theater, New York Lives Arts’ 2017-19 Randjelović/Stryker Resident Commissioned Artist (RCA) RoseAnne Spradlin presents her latest work “Y”. Spradlin, an alumnus of Fresh Tracks (1990) who received a Bessie award in 2003, a Guggenheim Fellowship in 2008, and a US Artist Ford Fellowship in 2014 engages a cast of eight dancers: Annie Heath, Ainesh Madan, Athena Malloy, Claire Westby, Connor Voss, Doug LeCours, EmmaGrace Skove-Epes, and Thomas Welsh-Huggins in an exploration of form and transformation through systems of repetition. The work asks not only, “How far can we go? What can a body do?” It also asks, “What is a body? What language does it speak?”
