Loco-Motion Spring Dance Performance

Company:
Loco-Motion Dance Theatre for Children
Loco-Motion's young choreographers and dancers ages 7 - 18 conceptualized, created and choreographed 12 short pieces utilizing a unique creative process developed by Artistic Director Lisa Pilato that fosters collective expression and artistic autonomy. This unique performance will give audiences a glimpse into the hearts and minds of young choreographers who have chosen topics that reflect their experiences growing up in today's complex world and include: validation through social media, the anxiety and disconnect they feel from trying to process what they see and hear on the news, the effects of coming of age in the pandemic era, collective healing, doom scrolling, bullying, navigating teen relationships and a humorous take on puberty.
Young artists who are relatively new to the choreographic process will have the opportunity to showcase their work alongside Loco-Motion’s older and more experienced choreographers and a few alumni. The collective choreographic process has coalesced and transformed this dedicated company of young dance activists into a formidable ensemble. It will prove to be an entertaining and thought provoking experience for audiences of all ages.
