MG DanceArts: AMASS

Company:
MGDanceArts / Marielis Garcia
City College Center for the Arts in conjunction with CUNY Dance Initiative presents MG DanceArts: AMASS, a multidisciplinary performance of dance, music and sculpture. Dancers include Marielis Garcia (Brian Brooks Moving Company), Bria Bacon (Stephen Petronio Company) and Bret Yamanaka (Yin Yue). Music is an unconventional trio of drums (Brad Wentworth, Broadway’s Dear Evan Hanson and Frozen), violin, (Kuan Cheng-Lu, NY Philharmonic), and stand up bass (Rion Wentworth, NY Philharmonic). Sculptures have been developed and created by visual artist Caleb Nussear.
AMASS explores group dynamics, with performers and audience members contributing to a collection of seemingly unrelated pasts, whose contrasting experiences challenge and change one another in the present and invite an open and coherent future together. Three dancers, three musicians, intriguing sculptures and you. Let’s see what we make together! The ticket price includes your food and drinks for the evening.
"… Marielis Garcia approached this with eye-catching bite…" - New York Times
“ ...set to a vigorous score for drums, percussion and electronic keyboard by Brad Wentworth, works far better…” -New York Times
