Something from Nothing: A Workshop in Theatrical Creation
Dates: Saturday & Sunday, Oct 20 & 21, 2012 10am-3pm with a lunch break.
Instructor: Quinn Bauriedel Co-Artistic Director of Pig IronDescription: Learn the process of creating an ensemble-based work of theatre through Pig Iron's tried-and-true creation processes. Participants will be given performance assignments: themes, stories, characters, even a piece of music, which must be solved as an ensemble. The playwriting and directing duties will be shared among the ensemble, and decisions will be made collaboratively.
This workshop emphasizes generating original material, physicalizing characters and theatrical ideas, structuring group improvisations into finished pieces and the role music and rhythm play in theatrical creation. Participants will work on taking material developed through improvisation and turning it into pieces that are precise, full, exuberant, and moving.

Instructor: David Diamond (bio)Description: Creating the life you want as an artist whether you are just starting out or in mid-career can present challenges and opportunities. Through interactive exercises, explore who you are as an artist and learn techniques to help you create the most fulfilling and satisfying experience possible. Where does real satisfaction come from for you? How do you make money and have a satisfying lifestyle while you are fully expressing your creative spirit? Full participation is expected. We will use physical exercises as well as deep conversation. Please come ready to be open to new ways of thinking.

Margolis Method / A Theatrical Journey to Your Creative Core
Dates: Saturday & Sunday, Dec 15 & 16, 2012, 10am – 3pm with lunch break
Instructor: Kari MargolisDescription: Learn to create on your feet, merge physical and vocal expression and infuse space with emotion. Synthesize the skills of Playwright, Director and Actor to become a more powerful three-dimensional theatre artist.
This two-day workshop will foster ensemble awareness and improvisational skills. Technique, theory and structured improvisation are incorporated with scene work and collaborative performance projects, creating the opportunity to assimilate the principles of Margolis Method into one’s own professional working process.

Secret Survivors featuring adult survivors of child sexual abuse on October 25-28
Inside/Out... voices from the disability community on November 1-4.Showtimes are Thursday-Saturday at 7:30pm and Sunday at 2:30pm.
All of the performances bring to the stage first hand narratives that explore issues of cultural, difference, and community. In addition to performances, the festival will include panel discussions, live streamed events, and workshops.
