About Flamenco in the Boros
Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana is known for the purity of its work and the unique and original way in which it enriches the art of Flamenco. The Company’s mission of bridging cultures using the spirit of Flamenco is achieved through extensive community outreach, exciting Arts Education programs and powerful performances for diverse audiences.
In 2009, the Company launched its program, Flamenco in the Boros, to serve the diverse communities across New York City. Since then, the programs have been entirely free to the public, and have given us a chance to augment our arts education activities in nearby schools and include outreach programs in each local community. Flamenco in the Boros also builds on the Company's mission to nurture the next generation of flamenco artists by offering young flamenco artists opportunities to develop their performing skills. Flamenco artists-dancers, musicians, and singers-from the vibrant NYC flamenco community join the long time professionals and get to hone their skills in these smaller venues.
Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana II presents Navidad Flamenca for our 9th annual Flamenco in the Boros Tour. This series of free community performances thrills audiences with the rich holiday customs of the Spanish-speaking world from Argentina, and Mexico, to Colombia, Cuba and Puerto Rico. Through music, carols, and dance, Navidad Flamenca highlights these traditions all united by a single language and reflects the influences of the Spanish culture throughout the Americas.
