NEW ORLEANS, LA: Francine E. Ott/The Walk Dance Residency

Company:
Whole Heart Productions
The Walk implements Francine Ott’s studies in the mental health field through the arts. It allows artists to further their creativity through a unique therapeutic process. This experience presents an opportunity for growth that goes beyond the studio or stage, by applying what has been learned through life. At times embracing the creative realm permits an artist to escape what it means to be human. The Walk desires to remind the artist that they are spiritual without dismissing their humanity. The audience is drawn to the artist because it gives them a chance to connect their internal voices to a tangible expression of inspiration, sparking a fire of change and transformation in their lives. The choreographic movement is spiritual hybrid of hip hop, house, modern, and African dance inspired by the scriptures, organically fused together to create a constant flow that unfolds a universal story of loss, redemption and healing.
Participants will be offered the opportunity to perform choreography during an informal studio showcase on Wednesday, August 31st and in Whole Heart Productions’ Home Grown dance production in New Orleans TBA.
