2022 marks Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre’s 10th season under the leadership of Robert Battle. To celebrate, the Company is touring a mixed repertory program featuring a variety of works, including the beloved Ailey masterpiece Revelations. NJPAC welcomes this “vital American cultural ambassador to the world (U.S Congress),” to its stage for three performances. May 6th and May 8th shows include selections from Robert Battle’s 10thAnniversary: Mass, In/Side, Ella, For Four, Takademe, Love Stories, and Revelations. The evening performance on May 7th features selections from Ailey & Ellington: The River, Pas de Duke, Reflections in D, and Revelations.

Founded in 1958 in New York City by Alvin Ailey, the Company has gone on to perform for an estimated 25 million people at theaters in 48 states and 71 countries on six continents—as well as millions more through television broadcasts, film screenings, and online platforms. The Company continues Mr. Ailey's mission by presenting important works of the past and commissioning new ones. In all, more than 235 works by over 90 choreographers have been part of the Ailey company’s repertory.
