Nimbus Dance Works seeks male and female company members and apprentice dancers for the company’s 2015-16 Season. Dancers should have professional experience and excellent modern and ballet technique. Nimbus seeks professional dancers who are: committed to working at a high technical level; adventurous collaborators; responsible group members; interested in community impact through the arts.
Nimbus' repertory includes work by Artistic Director Samuel Pott and by guest choreographers including Pedro Ruiz, Francesca Harper, Xiao-xiong Zhang, Randy James, Huang Yi, Charles Weidman, Luca Veggetti, and Korhan Basaran. With a home studio in Jersey City, the company performs two seasons annually in Jersey City, annually in New York City and on tour. Additionally, the company will be performing this August at the Jacob’s Pillow Inside/Out Festival. The company also does extensive community and educational work weaving together high level concert dance and community involvement.
Company contracts consist of approximately 30 weeks of work including rehearsal and performance periods, touring and teaching. All rehearsals, performances and teaching are paid at competitive rates. Contract begins early September.
Nimbus will offer two Repertory Workshops preceding the Audition. Repertory taught in workshops will be used in audition.
Repertory Workshop: Monday, August 31st, 2-6pm: Patch of Turf by Samuel Pott, taught by Artistic Director Samuel Pott and company members (studio 5-2), $45.
Repertory Workshop: Tuesday, September 1st, 2-6pm: Scarabs by Samuel Pott, taught by Artistic Director Samuel Pott and company members (studio 5-2), $45
Audition: Wednesday, September 2nd, 12-6pm: $10 audition fee - waived if both workshops attended; $5 off if one workshop attended. Report to holding room (studio 2) to check in, audition will be held in studio 1.
