The Bang Group takes every little girl's favorite Christmas show, The Nutcracker, and tears it limb from limb in this popular show, which has been a hit year after year. Mixing Tchaikovsky's original score with more contemporary music, the company turns the sugarcoated ballet into an exciting and comically subversive, neo-vaudeville performance. The familiar classical score is rendered in jazz, pop and novelty versions, progressing to the traditional orchestral suite as the dancers bring out a variety of dance forms including tap, ballet, contemporary, disco and toe tap. In addition to The Bang Group, each show features a different
group of teenage guest artists from dance schools throughout New York City.
