Spark Movement Collective launches its 14th season with Origins!
Join us on November 4th and 5th at The Mark O’Donnell Theater in Brooklyn. This performance will feature two works choreographed by artistic director Michelle Thompson Ulerich.
Entering her 4th year as artistic director, Michelle felt inspired to bring back Armenian Voices, which premiered in 2021 with original music by Sevana Tchakerian. This piece is inspired by Michelle’s own upbringing and shines a light on Armenian people.
The second piece entitled Excuse me, it’s nice to meet you will premiere for the first time in November. Excuse me, it’s nice to meet you will be a multi sectional piece exploring the beginnings of relationships. The encounters will range widely from intimate to silly to frustrating. Dancing, talking, singing, and thematic elements will help the stories along. Original music by Joshua Piper, Rush Carson, Michael Wall, and more will help create a textured and dynamic soundtrack for the dancers. The final scene will act as a collage of all of these relationships bringing home the ways in which memories connect us together. The choreography and connections will encourage audience members to reflect on their own relationships, and we hope audience members will step away feeling inspired.
Estimated run time is approximately 75 minutes with one intermission.
The Mark O'Donnell Theater is wheelchair accessible.
