Sokolow Theatre Dance Ensemble

Sokolow Theatre Dance Ensemble, under the direction of Jim May, presents Sokolow's 1965 "Odes," set for 23 dancers to music by Edgar Varese, performed live.     The dance has not been seen in New York since 1968.   Program also features a fascinating film of Anna Sokolow teaching the dance to students of the Ohio State University Dance Department.    Completing the program will be solos by Jim May, Ernestine Stodelle, and Sokolow's 1985 "Two Preludes," which she created for Evelyn Shepard.   Company member Melissa Birnbaum will perform the dance, taught and coached by Evelyn Shepard.    November 10-13 at the Cunningham Studio, 55 Bethune, 11th floor.
