Each month Gibney Dance will present a single day of classes and discussion with three prominent dance artists that focuses on a specific theme.
Our One-day Intensive on Monday, May 18, features Jenna Riegel, Alexandra Beller, and Adam Barruch, and will explore the concept of “If/Then – Anatomical, Temporal, and Spatial Choice-Making”.
This One-Day Intensive offers an opportunity to delve into both observing and experimenting with anatomical initiations, timing dynamics and spatial trajectories, researching how they affect our movement creation and execution. Taking note of our habitual choices, we aim to break free of them and discover greater levels of efficiency and ingenuity in the body. We will also explore the mind’s relationship to physical texture in order to illuminate the communicative power of the body. We will spend the day investigating this through deeply physical moving, integrated thinking and spontaneous invention.
