PANORAMA ENTERTAINMENT LEAPS AT FALL TO RISE
Panorama Entertainment is pleased to announce that it has acquired all North American rights to FALL TO RISE, written and directed by Jayce Bartok and produced by Tiffany Bartok.
When a principal dancer Lauren Drake (Katherine Crockett) injures her knee she attempts to settle into motherhood only to realize she has no identity without dance. She teams with a troubled former company member, Sheila Jules (Tony and Spirit Nominee Daphne Rubin-Vega), who left in a cloud of scandal many years before. Together these two total opposites go on an emotional journey to discover the true meaning of their lives.
An extensive theatrical release is planned, starting March 27 at the Living Room Theatre in Tiffany Bartok's home town of Portland, Oregon.
“It’s been an incredible journey making my directorial debut, Fall To Rise, and I’m thrilled to be working with Panorama Entertainment on its theatrical and VOD release, especially on the heels of the film premiering at Dance On Camera at Lincoln Center February 1” said Jayce Bartok. “With an incredible cast headlined by Tony and Independent Spirit nominee Daphne Rubin-Vega and star of Queen of the Night at the Diamond Horseshoe, Katherine Crockett, Fall To Rise is truly a passion project about the friendship and ultimate redemption of two female dancers seemingly at the end of their career. It was a highpoint to be able to work with such talents as Tony winners Desmond Richardson and Tamara Tunie who played such a huge part in such a personal film. ” Adds Stuart Strutin, President of Panorama Entertainment, "We're thrilled to have the opportunity to distribute such a heart-felt Film, and the experience is made even better by working with Tiffany and Jayce".
FALL TO RISE has already received much acclaim:
"Fall to Rise is a heart filling drama about the outstanding dedication of dancers to their art. Director Jayce Bartok beautifully captured the emotional difficulties of dancers coming to terms with age and identity."
- Robert Redford
"Daphne Rubin-Vega gives a performance that’s raw, real, funny, passionate, and full of aching humanity."
- Michael Musto from OUT/ADVOCATE
"These universal themes and ideas are what makes the film successful on a base level, but the performances are what elevate it. Rubin-Vega’s Sheila is of particular note, as she shows an impressive range throughout." 3 1/2 STARS
- FILM THREAT
The deal was negotiated by Stuart Strutin and Jacqueline Eckhouse, Partner at Sloss Eckhouse LawCo.
