PHILADELPHIA, PA: BalletX Spring Series 2018
Company:
BalletX
Three of today’s most celebrated choreographers, Trey McIntyre, Darrell Grand Moultrie, and Matthew Neenan return to BalletX for a captivating bill of world premieres.
Trey McIntyre has created over 100 world premiere works on some of the world’s most prestigious companies, including Stuttgart Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, and New York City Ballet. His 2016 BalletX premiere, Big Ones, set to the music of Amy Winehouse, was praised by The New York Times as “wacky, eccentric and fabulous.”
New York-based choreographer Darrell Grand Moultrie has created work on Colorado Ballet, Atlanta Ballet, and Dance Theatre of Harlem. Most recently, Moultrie was tapped to choreograph for Grammy Award winner Beyonce’s Mrs. Carter World Tour, one of the highest-grossing tours of the decade.
The series will also feature the return of Matthew Neenan’s 2014 work Increasing, inspired by the richness and intensity of music by Franz Schubert. The New York Times described Increasing as “vulnerable, open hearted and, above all, marvelously free.”
