PHILADELPHIA, PA: "Fit Fest" by Almanac Dance Circus Theatre (FREE)
Almanac Dance Circus Theatre
Fit Fest, hosted by Almanac Dance Circus Theater, is a FREE day-long multidisciplinary outdoor arts and fitness festival celebrating our human freedom to move in Philadelphia’s cherished public spaces. Fit Fest connects artists and community groups to foster a more vibrant public life, and provides equitable access to artistic movement workshops, performances, and health resources by eradicating financial and social barriers to enrich and connect our communities.
This year Fit Fest features over 20 artists, performance ensembles, community members and health advocates who offer opportunities to learn, try “alternative” approaches to fitness through artforms and bring fun to your body. We’re saying, physical fitness and meaningful social support can look like this!
The festival takes place at the site of Shackamaxon, also commonly known as Penn Treaty Park in Fishtown, Philadelphia on unceded lands of the Lenni-Lenape people who were its original caretakers. We hope you’ll join us in pausing all activities at 2:30pm as we acknowledge that history and take a moment to build awareness. We will also be joined by change-makers and presenters, We Are the Seeds, who will introduce two special artists throughout the day.
While we cannot enforce the use of masks, Fit Fest signage, organizers, and volunteers will encourage wearing a mask and cleaning hands frequently. All workshops require the use of masks for learners. Teaching instructors may use their discretion and may want to remove their mask to improve how well they can be heard. Performing artists may also use their discretion and remove their masks during their performance if they wish.
October 16, 2021. 12pm to 10pm. Shackamaxon / Penn Treaty Park.
1301 N Beach St, Philadelphia, PA 19125
