PHILADELPHIA, PA: KORESH DANCE COMPANY PRESENTS 6th ANNUAL COME TOGETHER DANCE FESTIVAL, NOVEMBER 20-24, 2019

Company:
KORESH DANCE COMPANY
Koresh Dance Company is proud to announce its 6th annual Come Together Dance Festival, November 20-24 at the Suzanne Roberts Theatre. This festival celebrates Philadelphia’s rich and diverse artistic landscape over 5 nights. Dance companies from near and far unite to give audiences an experience like no other.
The Festival, which began in 2013, celebrates the diversity, creativity, and technical excellence of Philadelphia’s dance community. From November 20-24, 5 mixed programs will stage an eclectic range of styles, juxtaposing genres from hip hop, tap, and jazz to ballet, modern, contemporary dance, and acrobatic physical theatre…and not to miss the Festival’s Saturday night program which will feature some of Philadelphia’s staple touring companies performing all in one program!
Koresh Dance Company aims to increase access to dance and awareness of the city’s rich movement cultures by assembling these diverse artists and dance companies in a single festival – at no cost to the Festival’s dancers. This festival is proud to be one of its kind highlighting dance in Philadelphia. In 2017, Broad Street Reviewwrote “Dance functions as a luminous symbol of truths; this festival brings with it plenty of fresh truth for our times.” In a similar light the TheDance Journal called the Festival “a panoramic view of where dance in America is in ethnic diversity, independent voices and choreographic range.”Philadelphia Weeklyhailed the 2014 Festival as “tak[ing] the art to a whole new level.”
Over 100 dance companies were either invited or applied to participate in the 2019 Come Together Dance Festival. The final roster includes internationally acclaimed companies Brian Sanders’ JUNK, Koresh Dance Company,Kun-Yang Lin/Dancers, Pennsylvania Balletc,Rennie Harris Puremovement—and 37 other companies!
This festival gives the opportunity for emerging dance companies and choreographers to share a stage with internationally hailed dance companies. This 5-day dance celebration provides all featured companies with a forum to interact with each other and the community with a goal of cross pollination of ideas and audiences. In an effort to expand the touring opportunities of Philadelphia based dance companies, KDC hosts dance presenters who can provide touring opportunities, as well as providing professionally photography and high resolution video to provide invaluable archival and promotional materials at no cost to the performers. This achieves both short term goals, providing smaller Philadelphia dance companies the opportunity to receive professional production and audience-building support, and long term, building local talent to sustain the future art communities of Philadelphia.
The Come Together Dance Festival attracts support from foundations dedicated to artistic and cultural development. This year’s Festival is supported by The Dexter F. & Dorothy H. Baker Foundation.
