This will be an incredible evening of global bass and Latin fusion! Pahua (’/pa-wah/) is a singer, composer, percussionist, DJ, and producer from Mexico City who mixes Caribbean and folkloric beats with electronics and percussion, creating a border-busting dance-party soundtrack rooted in ancient rhythms and melodies. From Brazilian funk and dancehall to South American folkloric music, cumbia, and global bass, Pahua’s music will keep you on your feet all night long!
With a nuanced approach to Folktronica, this co-founder of the neocumbia experimental Sotomayor Music project delves into tribal Latin rhythms, texturing them with airy house music, while her arrangements—packed with great vibes—reveal cumbia, Afrobeat, kuduro, dembow, and dancehall influences. Her voice floats amidst these finely tuned sounds, sometimes as an airy whisper and at others as a front-and-center singer that invites you into her deceptively complex aural world.

Pahua (’/pa-wah/) is a singer, composer, percussionist, DJ, and producer from Mexico City who mixes Caribbean and folkloric beats with electronics and percussion. With early roots as a Mariachi singer, she is a rising star of the Latin Wave and co-founder of the neocumbia experimental Sotomayor Music project. Her solo work twists traditional Latin rhythms with subtle electronics, drawing from Brazilian funk, dancehall, South American folkloric music, cumbia, Afrobeat, kuduro, and dembow. Her voice floats between airy whispers and commanding leads, inviting listeners into a deceptively complex aural world of self-love and empowerment.
