Pentacle Presents: FALL FURTHER XII

Featuring Claire Porter / PORTABLES, Freespace Dance, milkleaf, The Moving Architects, and Sonia Plumb Dance Company

A diverse lineup of companies and choreographers will be presented by Pentacle at Dixon Place—New York City’s historically renowned experimental local haven for creativity—on Friday, November 17 at 7:30pm for Pentacle’s twelfth year of Fall Further!  From a side splitting dive into the phenomenon of pronouns, to stirring aerial work intermingled with melancholic naturistic projections, to a creative mix of bungee and modern dance, an evening of intriguing dance performance awaits.  Join us for a one-time performance bringing together works by Claire Porter / PORTABLES (NJ), Freespace Dance (NYC/NJ), milkleaf (Los Angeles), The Moving Architects (NJ), and Sonia Plumb Dance Company (CT). Please note there will be no late seating after 7:40pm. Contact Pentacle at adminsupport@pentacle.org with any questions about the performance.

Fall Further, now in its twelfth year, is Pentacle’s signature fall performance showcasing Administrative Support Program (ASP) artists in the heart of the entertainment capital of the East Coast.  In line with Pentacle’s mission to design unique and robust programs for performing artists at critical stages in their careers, ASP provides direct administrative services and performance opportunities for New York City local and national artists looking to build more sustainable organizational operations alongside a cohort of artists with similar goals.

ABOUT THE COMPANIES & WORKS:

Claire Porter / PORTABLES presenting Pronouns for Dinner and Green Dress Circle

Pronouns for Dinner addresses the phenomenon of pronouns: the they, them, we, us, I, me, and you, as well as to the it, that, these, and those. Green Dress Circle introduces the audience to where they are... in their seats in this particular theater, on Chrystie St.

"Silly brilliance." — Quinn Batson

Freespace Dance presenting My Back To You and Inside The Quiet

My Back To You is a tender duet reflecting the many aspects and willingness to stay committed through the ups and downs. Inside The Quiet is a piece that explores the missing, broken or hidden parts of ourselves.

"Inside the Quiet is a beautifully constructed piece where [dancers] took turns falling away from a vertical axis, plunging, diving and breaking through barriers with an impulse that suggested rolling ocean waves."

milkleaf presenting Nostalgia’s Window

Dancing light and shadow tether a solitary figure to ancestors at once familiar and distant. Peering through the window of nostalgia, the dancer marks her memory of forgetting. Within the fire of her isolation, matrilineal tendrils unfold. Lucent. Vivid. Flashing.

The Moving Architects presenting O my soul

The duet "O my soul" combines dynamic dance, film, and interactive props to explore the visceral dichotomies we experience in life: tension and release, speed and stillness, exertion and recuperation, and being alone and together. The title references biblical laments uttered during times of trial.

"A fresh and daring aesthetic." —Dance Informa
