Artistic Director Ronen Koresh founded Koresh Dance Company in Philadelphia in 1991, and this year celebrates 25 years of collaboration and invention with a world premiere featuring the debut presentation of "23: Deconstructing Mozart." A collaboration with multimedia composer Paul D. Miller, a.k.a. DJ Spooky, this new work numbers the years and simultaneously looks to the future.
After two nights of performances, March 12th ushers in the second year of annual gala night Koresh Kouture Silver, complete with wine, whiskey tastings by WhistlePig Straight Rye Whiskey, delicious food, a silent auction, and a performance by the company.
Weaving together the artistry of dance and fashion, the Koresh Kouture gala also turns the spotlight on Philadelphia's talented designers. Unique designs by Naveda Couture and the Macy's Philadelphia Fashion Incubator will be modeled by Koresh dancers while gala attendees bid on auction items from luxurious trips to Philly-crafted accessories.
This year's gala honors longtime board member David Cooper and the company's Assistant Artistic Director, Melissa Rector, who also directs the acclaimed Koresh Youth Ensemble. Both have contributed support and direction to the development of Koresh Dance Company since its inception.
