‘Pretty Fucked’ is a multi-disciplinary performance conceived and curated by Mika Matsuura as her senior project in Art History at NYU and co-curated and produced by Rani Welch, founder and Art Director of The Rover Soho. Premiering at the same venue, ‘Pretty Fucked’ will run from August 13-15, 2010, 7:30pm, 41 Wooster St., Floor 2, New York. Tickets are 5.

Experiencing feminine beauty as a social and increasingly physical construct within contemporary culture – this exhibition jolts the ideological system that sustains and conceals the “ugliness” behind its process.
Adding their artistic voices to this increasingly complex topic are Julie Fotheringham, Amity Perry, Carrie Beehan/Trystette, Regina Rocke, Rakel Hinshaw, Nasim Haroun Mahdavi, Evan Luison, Elise Carlson, Isabella Bruno, Sarah Wolfe, Rani Welch, and Rob Davidson/KineticArchitecture – combining Dance, Performance Art, Opera, Percussion, Painting, and Video to create a pink cum-stained backdrop, not-so-classical ballerinas, a Belgium Side by Side double barrel shotgun, and women running really... ‘Pretty Fucked’ will hit you... HARD.
Acknowledging our own sexisms, our own masochistic tendencies –while in the same breath, celebrating whatever it is that we as women feel is intrinsically beautiful to us...we bring to you ‘Pretty Fucked’.
