Upcoming Brooklyn Dance Performance!
RIOULT/CUNY Five Borough Tour Upcoming Brooklyn Dance Performance!
October 9, 2012 -- Starting in the fall of 2011 RIOULT Dance Company, under the direction of Choreographer Pascal Rioult, forged a partnership with CUNY performing arts centers to bring dance and arts education to each NYC borough. The two-year Five-Borough Arts-in-Education Tour launches its second and final year with a performance presented by On Stage At Kingsborough at Kingsborough Community College's Leon M. Goldstein Performing Arts Center in Brooklyn on Sunday, October 21 at 3:00pm.
Following year one of the Tour which brought RIOULT's family program to all boroughs and featured local students on stage with Company dancers, the 2012-2013 year will bring public performances to each borough including RIOULT's piece City (2010) and additional RIOULT repertory. In year two, RIOULT's arts education programming extends to middle and high schools throughout the boroughs with in-school residencies incorporating the dance, City into current curriculum.
City, set to the music of J.S. Bach, begins with the animation of a real city projected along the backdrop as the dancers enter and unfold into their own movement as the images distort behind them. The matinee performance presented by On Stage At Kingsborough at the Leon M. Goldstein Performing Arts Center will also feature RIOULT’s Celestial Tides (2011), Les Noces (2005) and the powerful Bolero (2005)!

Born into the American modern dance tradition, RIOULT is creating its own legacy of contemporary dance that speaks to the mind as well as the heart. The company, based in New York City, presents an annual New York season and tours nationally and internationally. In addition to an established repertoire of over 30 dances, educational and community outreach have been integral to RIOULT since its inception. RIOULT’s DanceREACH program, founded in 1997, provides various public and private school children in the New York Metropolitan area with arts-in-education programs that introduce students to the art of modern dance, using Pascal Rioult’s repertory as a springboard.
