Davis Robertson/Helen Heineman
Davis Robertson and Helen Heineman once again share a program of original choreography to music that ranges from Bela Bartok to Bela Fleck. Robertson, former principal dancer with the Joffrey Ballet and currently Artistic Director of the Joffrey Ballet School Performance Company, presents his large group in a repeat of his "Unequilibrium," music by Bartok, and the NYC premiere of "At the Still Point of the Turning World," inspired by the poem by T.S. Eliot and set to music by Vivaldi. This work was created by Robertson for the current Bolshoi graduating class during his visit to Moscow last year as guest teacher/choreographer at the renowned Bolshoi Academy. Helen Heineman, whose credits include the Nederlands Dans Theatre and Harkness Ballet, will present her delightful "Bluegrass Suite," music by Bela Fleck, and her new "Configurations," to a selection of music that includes Zoe Keating and Tobi Twining. Performances May 23 & 24, 7:30 PM, at New York Live Arts, 219 West 19th Street.
