World renowned choreographer Sidra Bell personally invites you to Arena, an original ensemble movement piece, which is a joint collaboration with leading contemporary artist, Derek Fordjour. Along with musical accompaniment from Hannah Mayree of The Black Banjo Reclamation Project, five dancers will perform the original choreographic score atop a packed dirt floor, within a built environment designed by Fordjour.

Arena is the product of a series of collaborative live conversations between a choreographer and an artist. Both bring from their respective practices an interrogation of power, labor, race and history through various modes and strategies of figuration.

Sidra has been going nonstop since 2021 where she became the first black woman in history to choreograph for the New York City ballet. In the last year She has been a featured guest on the Today Show as well as Essence magazine.

The event will kick off at a private event on November 10th, then there will be two shows 2pm and 5pm daily from November 11 through December 16. Details are below and more information on the exhibition are attached. Please feel free to let us know what day you would like to come and we will make sure that your time is confirmed. We would be honored to have you!

*Arena will be performed twice daily in the West Gallery: 2pm and 5pm shows daily
