Tricia Brouk's eight-member company, including musicians on piano and drums, will premiere her dance/theater work Committed, written, directed and choreographed by Brouk, with original music and lyrics by Andrew David Sotomayor and musical direction by Zach Orts. Committed is based on the personal stories of struggle and hope as related in 1989 by eight patients at an Upper East Side psychiatric ward. With 13 original songs by Sotomayor, their stories are told through song and dance with compassion, intensity, even humor by performers Sarah Bierstock, Alexis Fishman, Mia Gentile, Heather Hamilton, Mike Longo, Hiroyuki Matsuura, Kathryn Mowat Murphy, and composer Sotomayor.
Miniatures in Detail finds choreographer/dancer Vicky Shick joined once again by longtime collaborators Elise Kermani (sound), and Barbara Kilpatrick (visuals). The intimate chamber setting of the West End Theater functions as host to this interweaving of movement, sound, and costuming, revealing a series of delicately nuanced relationships. The Bessie-nominated Shick is joined in this quartet by performers Olsi Gjeci, Marilyn Maywald, and Omagbitse Omagbemi. Reviewing Shick's "Not Entirely Herself," Siobhan Burke called the work "one of those dances that imprints itself further into your memory, rather than fading away, in the hours and days after you've seen it." Tricia Brouk's work has been described in the press as "an amagamation of sacred and profane." Her credits encompass the concert stage, off-Broadway, television, and films. She choreographed John Turturro's feature film Romance and Cigarettes (receiving a Golden Thumb Award from Roger Ebert), moving into TV and theater choreography and directing. Tricia choreographs for The Black Box, an ABC series, and has recently written, directed and choreographed 50 Shades of F****D Up, a musical parody, which she also adapted as a screenplay. Among her many other credits are providing choreography and direction for the shows Bingo; I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change; Popesical, and presentations at the Triad Theater. Her film choreography includes Lasse Hallstrom's The Hoax; Dennis Leary's Rescue Me, and her own Rolling in the Ring of Fire.
Vicky Shick was born in Budapest and emigrated to the U.S. with her family at the age of five. She danced with the companies of Susan Rethorst (1984 to 2004), Sara Rudner (1977 to 1980), and Trisha Brown Dance Company (1980-86), and has collaborated on projects with Risa Jaroslow, Juliette Mapp, Jodi Melnick, Stephen Petronio, and Wendy Perron. Vicky has shown her work for the last twenty years, and was awarded a "Bessie" in 2003 for choreographic achievement for her collaborations with visual artist Barbara Kilpatrick, who also contributes the visuals for Miniatures in Detail. In addition to dancing and choreographing for her company Vicky teaches at Hunter College, for the Trisha Brown Company, at Movement Research, and as guest at schools abroad, including Budapest.

Soaking WET is a series of choreographic evenings curated and produced by David Parker and Jeffrey Kazin, who are committed to bringing together artists of varied backgrounds and levels of experience in order to break down aesthetic barriers and achieve mutual inspiration. The artists are united by their commitment to movement and their understanding that vigorous experimentation can take many forms. Parker and Kazin, directors of The Bang Group, the first and only resident-dance company of the West End Theater since December 2002, also bring artists from around the country and abroad to appear in New York, often to make their New York debuts.
