Inside the Pillow Lab with
Emily Johnson / Catalyst
streams this Thursday, December 17 at 7pm Eastern

Inside the Pillow Lab is a new series of online short films that capture works in process by artists during their fall on-site residencies at Jacob's Pillow.

Join us for the screening of our newest film this Thursday, and live-chat with the artists and collaborators of Emily Johnson / Catalystand audiences from around the world.

During her residency, Johnson conducted land-based research to inform Being Future Being, a richly layered evening-length performance that contains narrative elements from Johnson’s own family history, a commissioned score sung by a BIPOC community chorus, a soundscape by Diné composer Raven Chacon, and design that builds a visual and aural landscape of Indigenous power.

“After months of navigating layered crises, the opportunity to return to the studio in an environment that is not only physically safe, but nestled in an inspiring and restorative natural environment, is a profound gift to any artists. I’m looking forward to being able to reconnect with my artistic practice and to recharge my creative resources.“
—Emily Johnson

Jacob's Pillow rests on the traditional lands of the Mohican, Nipmuc, Pocumtuc and Agawam people, and we pay our respect to their elders past, present and future.
