Baker is arguably the most important contemporary choreographer in Canada and hasn’t presented her own work in New York City in ten years. Her company is performing three works: Portal and coalesce, both by Baker; and a duet, armour, choreographed by Varone. For “Stripped,” she’ll use images and photos to show how she develops her movement ideas, talk about how Lewis Thomas’ Lives of a Cell informs both coalesce and armour, and how she came to include a work by Varone in the program.
