A program of The Harkness Center for Dance Injuries at NYU Langone Health and Gibney, the Harkness Center Healthy Dancer Initiative at Gibney provides professional dancers in financial need with subsidized classes and free wellness workshops to encourage a sound, holistic approach to self-care and aid in career longevity.
APPLICATION OPEN: OCTOBER 1 - 31
LOTTERY SELECTION: NOVEMBER 1- 15
TERM: JANUARY 1 - APRIL 30, 2019
BENEFITS:
Free wellness screening conducted by the Harkness Center for Dance Injuries (scheduled at the start of each term)
$5 dance technique and somatic classes at Gibney (up to 30 per term, all adult drop-in classes are included. Regular rate $17)
Free injury prevention workshops at Gibney, led by Harkness Center for Dance Injuries staff
Dancers are eligible based on financial need – gross household income is equal to or below 225% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL) – and accepted by lottery into each four-month term. View Income Threshold chart.
