The Philadelphia Dance Company (PHILADANCO!) is celebrating 45 amazing years under the artistic direction of founder Joan Myers Brown, a recent recipient of the illustrious National Medal of Arts and an honorary doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania. Built on the audacious hope of a black ballerina, the title of her recent biography by Brenda Dixon Gottschild,  Founded in 1970, PHILADANCO!  is dedicated to performing the highest quality of professional dance, while increasing the appreciation of the modern dance form. Across the nation and around the world, PHILADANCO! is celebrated for its innovation, creativity, and preservation of predominantly African-American traditions in dance. The company has a legacy of breaking barriers and building bridges across cultural divides, consistently performing for audiences representing an amalgamation of people from diverse communities. PHILADANCO! is recognized for its artistic integrity, superbly trained dancers and electrifying performances. Also inherent in their mission is a commitment to empowering youth with crucial leadership and development skills that facilitate achievement and success in the world of dance and everyday life.

This 45th Anniversary performance will include former Ailey standout Christopher Hudgin’s newest work for the company, “Latched”, Gene Hill Sagan’s  balletic and lyrical “Suite En Bleu,” and the sizzling and athletic “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner.”  Joins us for a sample of the best the dance world has to offer!
