We are each members of a particular famliy, and yet there is a time to go beyond its boundaries to follow the dictates of one's solitary heart. In Summer's Different, three generations of one family feel a cataclysmic jolt when a parent reveals a gender identity that challenges the family's equilibrium. The Ellen Stewart Theater is reconfigured to a single row of 80 seats encricling the stage, to watch up close the individual and collective struggle of this family to transform.
