TAKE Dance presents "In the Sea of Heaven"
Company:
TAKE Dance
TAKE Dance, the NYC-based contemporary dance company led by choreographer/artistic director Takehiro Ueyama, presents In the Sea of Heaven, including two Ueyama premieres and a revival of Les Reves D'apres Midi by renowned choreographer/master teacher, the late Kazuko Hirabayashi. Ueyama will premiere In the Sea of Heaven, inspired by the 2011 earthquake and tsunami that devastated Japan as well as the 2017 hurricanes Harvey and Irma. Music is by award-winning Japanese musician/composer Kato Hideki, who will perform live. Also premiering is The Game 2, a second incarnation of the men's quartet from the choreographer's full-evening work entitled Salaryman. Kazuko Hirabayashi created her duet Les Reves D'apres Midi on Ueyama and Jill Echo in 2004, and the work is being revived to honor the renowned choreographer/teacher and er work. Though created outside of her usual style, Ms. Hirabayashi created a romantic duet that is timeless in its beauty and humanity.
