THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY ANNOUNCES FALL 2012 SEASONIncluding the Premiere of Artistic Director Brian Rogers’ Hot Box;
and two collaborations with Performance Space 122.
August 2, 2012 – Now in its eighth year, The Obie and Bessie Award-winning Chocolate Factory Theater has quickly established itself as a leading incubator for new developments in experimental performance, commissioning, presenting and supporting the development of work by local, national and international artists whose work defies easy categorization.
The Chocolate Factory’s fall season opens with Hot Box, the newest work by founding Artistic Director Brian Rogers, whose Selective Memory was nominated for a Bessie Award in 2011; continues its focus on international collaboration with a new commissioned work by Amsterdam-based performance artist Rob List; maintains its commitment to New York City-based artists (Aki Sasamoto and Jillian Peña) whose work bridges the divide between the performance and visual art disciplines; and initiates a substantial partnership with Performance Space 122, co-commissioning and co-presenting new works by Big Dance Theater and Kristen Kosmas.
Unless otherwise noted, tickets to all performances are 5 and may purchased online at www.chocolatefactorytheater.org or by calling 212-352-3101.
All performances will take place at The Chocolate Factory’s 5,000 square foot renovated industrial facility located at 5-49 49th Avenue in Long Island City, Queens.
