pairing different choreographers each night!

Triskelion Arts Presents:

The Split Bill Series
Triskelion Arts’ Zoo Theater
December 12-15, 2012 at 8pm

Brooklyn, NY: Triskelion Arts presents The Split Bill Series, featuring four emerging choreographers over four nights, with a different pairing of artists performing each evening. This program was created to serve select artists looking for a stepping-stone between a showcase format and presenting an evening-length production. December’s line-up includes: Jordan Morley | Little Riot, Fenn & Company, Meg Weeks, and Double-Edge Dance.

About the Work

Jordan Morley’s 195 is an exploration of sci-fi and alien movie genres. The piece deals with possession and pop as a means to communicate human understanding in an age where connection seems key but human interaction is getting stranger by the minute. We become more than our selves through digital means. What happens when we let go? Or forget to respond? Morley’s work is sometimes humorous, sometimes horrifying, but always physical.

Fenn & Company presents An Evening with My Family. The audience gets a glimpse of this particular family’s interaction – a brother and sister dueling for the keeper of a Barbie’s head – a Mother and Father serving us farts and chicken drumsticks at the dinner table, and finally the mother falling into a wine coma and dreams of her sisters – only now they are MEN!

Double-Edge Dance premieres Our Past the Fuse, a duet of vigor and fragility, like a ceaseless tug-o-war in which the rope is frayed and worn thin by the performers’ ongoing, mutual intensity. The rope never breaks, however, as they exert control over the tides of their physicality to maintain the connection whereby they fuel and support one another.

Slowed to a Walk, choreographed by Meg Weeks, takes it title from a Wendell Berry essay written in 1971 recounting the author’s experience walking through the woods. This piece focuses on the physical act of walking and its role in fulfilling the basic human needs of transportation, recreation, and meditation. The work also explores themes of companionship and shifting interpersonal relations, and how walking may serve to mediate these complex experiences.
