DIXON PLACE FEATURES "THE VOICES OF DANCE"
Jessica Chen’s TRANSLATE series to premiere at experimental arts hot spot

Dixon Place, a non-profit multi-arts venue soon to be in its second decade, will feature the work of twelve prominent New York City choreographers to kick off the summer. TRANSLATE (Voices of Dance) will take the stage on June 27th and 28th at 7:30pm as a part of their eclectic programming. The TRANSLATE series is presented in an effort to spotlight mid-career choreographers across many styles as artists to watch in the near future. The selected artists are invited to participate in salon discussion sessions featuring topics that reinforce their foundation as dance artists and promote their work.

Leading the series is guest curator Jessica Chen. Chen is the Artistic Director of J CHEN Project, a contemporary dance company that has been seen throughout New York City at Alvin Ailey Citigroup Theatre, Peridance Capezio Center, and Dixon Place. J CHEN was featured in the 2010 Shanghai World Expo as well as the Amnesty International Arts Festival in Washington D.C. As well, Jessica was a speaker for Semester at Sea TEDx at San Diego Harbor. She was also honored as the Keynote Speaker at Cornell University’s Celebration of Asian American Women for her work in empowering Asian American women to become leaders in their community.
