About the Work:

sarAika

L Train is an evening length dance performance featuring seven dancers: Mayu Nakaya, Faustine Lavie, Haley Morgan Miller, Karma Chuki, Maitlin Jordan, Sara Pizzi, and Aika Takeshima. It speaks about us. About the uncomfortable yet common sensation that we are not in control of life. One fleeting, precious moment does not last forever. Patterns, relationships, jobs, views, personalities, and thoughts are subject to change. Where is the stability? Change occurs in a few seconds, even without acknowledgment. At the end, life seems like the MTA L train line: everyone goes in the same direction, but nobody has the same destination. The music is a personal mix created by Aika Takeshima using the music of "MANOID" and "Luke Hess", live recording of the L Train MTA NYC subway and spoken words written by Aika Takeshima and Sara Pizzi spoken by Hailey Morgan Miller.

Ranardo-Domeico Grays

The company will perform Dash - Between, a ballet about living life in the dash between “born” and “died.“ Dedicated to Tim Merrell, with music by Phillip Glass, Steve Reich, Vir-Amicus, Lorne Balfe, and William Byrd. Performed by Alexandria Amstutz, Anna Antongiorgi, Mahalia Brookes, Hope Formica and Lia Gagianas. Ranardo-Domeico Grays/VISIONS Contemporary Ballet is rooted in African American heritage with multicultural influences. It relays universal messages of the human experience and can be enjoyed by audiences of all ages, abilities, communities and backgrounds.
