Valentina Kozlova, former principal dancer with the Bolshoi Ballet and New York City Ballet, announces the first Valentina Kozlova International Ballet Competition, June 27-30 at LaGuardia Concert Hall, 100 Amsterdam Avenue (at 65th Street). Approximately 80 dancers, ages 13-25, from countries around the world, will dance in an event described by Kozlova as "...not about competing but rather about sharing knowledge and achievements. It is purely a celebration of talent."

As in past years, the Competition is divided into three divisions:
Student 13-14 years old
Junior 15-17 years old
Senior 18-25 years old.

Dances can be selected from the VKIBC list of repertory, which includes solos and duets from

La Bayadere
Raymonda
Sleeping Beauty
and more (full list is on the website).

Entrants are also required to learn, through videos with detailed notes, contemporary dances by

Paulo Arrais, duet.
