The 2013 Swamp Dance Fest, directed by New York based choreographer Neta Pulvermacher and Bulgarian-born independent choreographer Tzveta Kassabova, is a transformative four-week dance intensive intended for pre-professional and professional dancers age 16 and above. The Swamp Dance Fest! combines a rigorous schedule of classes, rehearsals, performances, artists’ talks, seminars and special projects, culminating in a performance of works created during the festival, performed by all students and guests. This summer we are delighted to welcome David Dorfman to the Swamp. His work has been commissioned widely in the U.S. and in Europe. Over the past two decades, David Dorfman Dance has been recognized as one of the most influential American contemporary dance companies. Lisa Race, Assistant Professor of Dance at Connecticut College, will also be in residence for Swamp Dance Fest.
We also welcome recent Swamp addition, Tiffany Rhynard and the groundbreaking New Jersey-based artists Joshua Bisset and Laura Quittrocchi, co-directors of the Shua Group. Their works interact with audiences and the greater public in unusual settings to create deep listening, exchange and moments of transformation.
Swamp Dance Fest! is a creative lab. Students experience the thrills of collaborative creative processes with the resident artists.
Come to the Swamp where art and
strange creatures grow!
