Brief Description of Brooklyn Dance Festival Events:

We are excited to announce the 5th Annual Brooklyn Dance Festival 2016. What started 5 years ago with 12 audience members has grown to over 40 companies, 340 dancers and hundreds of dance enthusiast. Opening the festival at BAM Fisher, March 26th 2PM at 8 PM and closing with a Gala at Brooklyn Borough Hall, Monday, April 4th 6PM.  Last year Brooklyn Borough President, Eric Adams declared April 4th, Brooklyn Dance Festival Day! 

The festival is presenting the evolution of concert dance; Youth, Next Stage and Main Stage professional companies, over two weeks. Proud member of the Bessie's Presenters League, we are opening at BAM Fisher Theater, Saturday March 26th. Giving audiences a well-rounded perspective of NYC dance makers, we are dedicated to bringing the best of concert dance to Brooklyn and making it accessible to everyone.

Main Stage Performance:  Professional Dance Companies that have been creating and presenting dance within New York and Internationally for more than 7 years. Audiences can expect premiers and cutting edge repertoire.
Main Stage Performance - BAM Fisher Theater
2PM and 8 PM Main Stage: Performance 2 hours

Next Stage Performance: Newer dance makers to the concert dance scene. These are up and coming companies that we present to give audiences a view of what is next in dance. Presenting 12 companies in one night, audiences will view short adventurous new works. 
Next Stage Company Performance - April 2nd - 7pm - Kumble Theater
Performance Time: 2 hours

Youth Stage Performance: Approximately 20 Youth Ensembles based throughout the greater New York area are presenting energetic and various genres in dance. The program boasts a wide variety of works including Hip-Hop, Musical Theater and African Dance offerings.
