Japan Society presents the North American premiere of The Age is Yours, My Liege! A Tale of Proto-Japan, a sharp, frenetic amalgam of physicality and iconography from choreographic provocateur Reisa Shimojima and her Tokyo-based company KEDAGORO, evoking primeval Japanese festival culture, wartime fervor and sacred rite to pull apart Japanese national identity and imperial myth. This performance arrives as part of Japan Society’s Fall 2026 TWO SOILS Series, and marks the North American debut of Shimojima, a sudden and seismic force on the Asian dance scene. This work arrives in NYC as part of a three-city tour produced and organized by Japan Society, with additional stops including McAlister Auditorium (Greenville, SC, Nov. 11) and OZ Arts (Nashville, TN, Nov. 14 & 15). Performance runs approximately 70 minutes.
