SYREN Modern Dance, presented by The Church of St. Luke in the Fields, will perform "The Art of Fugue" accompanied by Rick Erickson on organ and harpsichord. This site-specific dance explores definitions of beauty while searching for its existence in a world filled withdetachment, immediacy, and exploitation. Bachʼs masterpiece is at the center of this work, allowing the organ to heighten the senses, evoking imagery and inspiring movement from every crevice, step, and pillar of the sanctuary.

This production originally premiered at Bach Vespers of NYC at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, and has since been presented by Bach Society Houston (TX), Sacred Music at the Red Door (CT), as well as at Providence United Methodist Church (NC).

“Jubilant! Thrilling! Everyone in this city should see “The Art of Fugue” and be transported into this truly immersive work of beauty.”
— Lois Nemcovsky, Audience Member, Bach Vespers of NYC
