Periapsis Music and Dance presents The Portrait Project, a set of six new works for solo dancer and solo musician sharing the stage. Each was created by a different guest choreographer in collaboration with a commissioned composer. Join us for an evening of music and dance conceived and performed as one!
Guest choreographers:
Joshua Beamish, Seán Curran, Miro Magloire, Helen Simoneau, Katarzyna Skarpetowska, Manuel Vignoulle
Composers:
Richard Carrick, Shawn Jaeger, Jonathan Howard Katz, Mary Kouyoumdjian
The program will also include an excerpt of a group work by resident choreographers Erin Dillon and Hannah Weber. A post-performance discussion will conclude each evening's program, moderated by composer Laura Kaminsky (2/18) and choreographer Tiffany Rea-Fisher (2/19).
Music for three works from The Portrait Project was commissioned by the Charles and Joan Gross Family Foundation.
This event is part of the 2016 Composers Now Festival.
