About the Event
The Shadows Lie invites comparison of Plato’s “Allegory of the Cave” to the societal traps into which we’ve been born. How hard would a mind fight to cling to what it believes is reality? What would it take for humans born into this system to reconnect with each other? What and who do we ignore in the name of protecting ourselves?
Amy Ashley is a NYC-based freelancer exploring the separation of our humanity from ourselves, and putting the soul of the artist first.

MEND is an intimate look at two people navigating the process of rupture to repair. The work unfolded as our parallel journeys braided together over the past 5 years. In the dance of solitude and togetherness, we founded a work built on shared experiences in and out of the studio. This culminating work draws strength from our continuous return to collaboration at each stage of our growth.
Physical and theatrical, from abstract to mundane, we navigate the balance of agency and surrender while we address our most informative, transformative relationships.
