Women from over 50 countries and states around the world contributed their pieces of fabric inscribed with what they wish to let go of for this project. After the initial creation of the skirt at the Chashama gallery in Manhattan's Garment District in the spring of 2021 and its subsequent exhibitions at the Williamsburg Art & Historical Center, Brooklyn, 28th Annual Lower East Side Festival of the Arts, NYC and The Art Center Highland Park, Chicago, IL, among others, Yana Schnitzler will now present Tales of a Phoenix: The Letting Go Project with a series of stitching performances.

Over the month-long run, female identifying viewers are still invited to participate in this ever-growing project.

"Tales of a Phoenix: The Letting Go Project" is made possible, in part, with funding from the National Endowment for the Arts. Further support was provided by Chashama, The Feminist Art Project, Williamsburg Art & Historical Center and Grove 34.
