New York, NY (April 14, 2023) — New York Live Arts and Artistic Director Bill T. Jones announces the The 2023 Live Ideas Gala: Planet Justice Are You Here For It?*, co-chaired by members of Live Arts Board of Directors, Colleen Keegan and Matthew Putman. The annual experience features a night full of performances, honorees and Live Arts artist spotlights, a delicious vegetarian dinner by one-of-a-kind BITE Catering, and an auction featuring exclusive art and experiences. The gala will take place Monday, May 22nd at Chelsea Factory (547 W 26th St, New York, NY 10001) with Cocktails at 6pm and Dinner & Program at 7pm.

Honoree Awards will be presented to Carnegie International Prize winner, artist, activist, advocate and New York Live Arts board member LaToya Ruby Frazier; and Robyn “Rihanna” Fenty’s Clara Lionel Foundation, which invests in climate justice initiatives in the Caribbean & United States and helps communities prepare for and withstand natural disasters. The honorees will be recognized for their outstanding work, achievements, and philanthropy towards climate justice and building a sustainable future. Decor and Live Ideas Awards will be created by installation-based artist and Live Arts board member Randy Polumbo, whose work is known nationally and internationally across metropoles and natural landscapes such as deserts, ruins, and caves.

“New York Live Arts, through its ethos of equity, is a hub for artists who elevate body-based investigation, connecting people in movement and spirit. This evening we cherish our collective strength, we pay tribute to the outstanding individuals whose indefatigable energy, hopefulness, and resolve inspires action and change. We are a vibrant community united in our humanity and our resilience, demonstrating that among our moment’s many challenges, there remains at least one constant: the need to come together. - Bill T. The event will present performances by Live Arts’ resident and legendary 41 year old Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Company, tap dance artist and Fresh Tracks resident Orlando Hernández, and Live Feed commissioning and residency artist from Burkina Faso Lacina Coulibaly - with a special appearance by composer and pianist/vocalist Samora Pinderhughes and music by world-renowned DJ Natasha Diggs.

Individual donor tickets to the event are $1,500 or $2,000. Table purchases range from $15,000 to $200,000.
