A Joyful Aerial Dance Company Gets Ready to Perform at the Manhattan Movement Arts Center

Erin Bomboy for The Dance Enthusiast

General Mischief has been thrilling audiences for close to 10 years with a high-octane blend of dance, aerial acrobatics, and all around revelry. With two shows on the horizon, Artistic Director Emily Smyth Vartanian and her performers plan to push the boundaries of physics with bold feats and madcap spirits. Joy is the common thread running through this two-part performance series. With an emphasis on an interactive format, General Mischief hopes to sweep the audience up in its irresistible exuberance.

Finding Joy with the General Mischief Company

General Mischief will debut their high flying spectacle Three if by Air at Manhattan Movement Arts Center on September 21-22, 2013 and return in October with a brand new show, Four on the Floor, at New York City Center Studios.

Three if by Air several playful premieres inspired by beloved children’s poet, Shel Silverstein.

Three if by Air spotlights a unique aerial apparatus for each piece. Lisa Natoli twirls around a rope like an industrious spider weaving a silken web while overgrown children. Vartanian and Alisa Fendley flip a coin to decide who will hopscotch across the stage suspended from bungee cords.
