What a time to jump into that role and also what a joy it has been to help this company grow! We have shows coming up on November 4th and 5th in Brooklyn and also some bitter sweet news. While the last few years have been filled with shows, growth, and new collaborations, it is with a heavy heart that I share that this will be Spark Movement Collective’s final season. This difficult decision was made between founding artistic director, Chelsea Koenig, and myself, with support from Spark's Board.

There are so many facets involved in creating and sustaining an arts organization, and we feel that this is the right timing for us. Fourteen years in New York is an incredible achievement, right?! We are so proud of Sparks' evolution and the number of people this organization has reached through performances, workshops, behind the scenes events, outdoor shows, virtual events, open rehearsals, dance films, film festivals, and more. We could not have done it without you. Thank you for your support!

We will celebrate Spark's 14th Season  with joy, gratitude as we launch ORIGINS! Join us on November 4th and 5th at The Mark O’Donnell Theater in Brooklyn.  Our performances feature my choreography. I felt inspired to bring back Armenian Voices, which premiered in 2021, with original music by Sevana Tchakerian. This piece, informed by my upbringing,  shines a light on  Armenian culture.

My second piece entitled Excuse me, it’s nice to meet you is a world-premiere. This  multi-sectional work explores the beginnings of relationships. The encounters range widely from intimate to silly to frustrating.  We sing, dance, and  speak in Excuse me.... and the original music  of Joshua Piper, Rush Carson, Michael Wall, J. Mordechai, and others creates a textured and dynamic soundtrack that supports our performers beautifully.
We hope to see you in the audience.

With thanks,
Michelle Thompson Ulerich
