DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS: ASAP deadline October 3rd, 2018 PLEASE send your materials ASAP. Applications will be reviewed as they come in, selection will be first come first serve so there is a chance that the selection process is finished before the deadline
OPEN CALL for female or female-identifying dancers, all levels are welcome. Following an “*Anarchoreographic Method”, Elena Bajo’s interdisciplinary approach, selected dancers will work with improvised and choreographed movements to be determined before hand in close collaboration with the artist. Having a short text as a point of departure, a series of experiments and studies will be proposed that attempt to explore the intersection of ecologies of capital and body movement, chance and muscle memory undertaking anarchism as artistic strategy, by implementing elements of disentanglement and affects, as a point of dissidence and disruption on contemporary political choreographies. *Anarchoreographies – non hierarchical trajectories used as a tool to articulate a sense of subjectivity and collectivity and the creation of a space in constant flux.
Selected dancers will start working one on one choreographies in a "virtual" way with the artist (skype, whatsapp, FB messenger, etc) and then will have "real" encounters for 5 rehearsal days.
Mandatory that selected dancers should be available for performance day at EFA Oct 20th 1-5pm; for rehearsals:
- at Center for Performance Research 361 Manhattan Ave. Brooklyn, NY 11211 http://cprnyc.org/ Saturday Oct 6th 3-6 pm, Monday Oct 8th 3-6 pm, Wednesday Oct 10th 6-9 pm, Saturday Oct 13th 7-9 pm;
- at Movement Research Open Performance Public Tuesday Oct 16th 7-8.30pm;
- at EFA Thursday Oct 18th Dress Rehearsal/Run-through 10-12 am
Selected performers will be provided with a digital copy of video documentation, high resolution digital photos of the performance and a modest stipend. Their participation will be credited in the official program and promoted in social media. Elena Bajo thanks Spain Arts and Culture for their support.
