Job Description:

Nimbus Dance Works (NDW) is seeking a motivated and skilled Production Stage Manager who is eager to make a meaningful contribution to an arts organization. The Production Stage Manager works to strengthen Nimbus Dance Works’ as part of a coordinated Production Team. The Production Stage Manager is a part-time position, and must be available to work during all major Nimbus productions; hours of work will vary based on production development and execution schedules. The primary responsibilities are to oversee all aspects of production technical operations and equipment, execute stage management, and supervise production interns. Other responsibilities include production administration and managing production inventory. Ideal candidates should have proven experience, good leadership and managerial skills, and possess a strong work ethic as long hours are required.

Nimbus Dance Works is a non-profit dance company based in Downtown, Jersey City that focuses on artistic excellence and community impact. Comprised of the professional dance company, the School of Nimbus Dance Works, NimbusPRESENTS a newly-launched presenting series, and community educational programs, Nimbus’ is one of the fastest growing contemporary dance organizations in the NY/NJ area. Founded in 2005 by Artistic Director Samuel Pott, NDW is currently undertaking initiatives to move itself into the national touring marketplace, to consolidate development/fundraising and to advance the presenting wing of the organization in Downtown Jersey City.

I. RESPONSIBILITIES

Technical Operation & Stage Managing

I. Record the Artistic Director's decisions about blocking and notes for productions; records all blocking, plus all the light, sound and set change cues
II. Keep track of logistical and scheduling details and communicating what goes on in rehearsals to the rest of the   Production team
III. Make sure production props and furnishings are available for rehearsals and performances
IV. Schedule, attend, and run all rehearsals for productions
V. Calling cues
VI. Overseeing the entire show each time it is performed

Supervision: Production Interns (PIs)

I. Actively recruit, maintain, train, and schedule Production Interns for productions as needed
II.Coordinate a smooth and efficient plan for the PIs during productions

Events

I. Coordinate with the Production team and FOH for all productions
II. Be aware of technical issues of each performance that affect FOH
III. Attend all productions and have PIs scheduled and supporting your tasks

Administration

I. Coordinate the dissemination of show specific information to the Artistic Director, Company Manager and Company Administrator 
II. Provide spatial blueprints for performances and events to the Artistic Director
III. Coordinate technical rehearsal scheduling with the Company Manager and presenting artists
IV. Communicate technical capabilities and restrictions to artist
V. Communicate with venues regarding the technical needs to execute Nimbus’ performances and presentations
VI. Maintain a log of all technical info for Repertory, including  lighting cues, sound, equipment needs
VII. Maintain Production Intern and technical inventory database
VIII. Attend production meetings
IX. Produce performance reports to the Artistic Director and Company Administrator following performances and presentations

X. Project Evaluation: Serve as a panelist for choreographic auditions

II. Qualifications

* Must be available to stage manage all major Nimbus Dance Works productions
*Prior stage managing experience required

*A working knowledge of all aspects of the theatre – production and technical, as well as performance
* Excellent communication skills (written, oral, and visual)
* Possess strong organizational and leadership skills
* Ability to work productively and meet deadlines in an environment of change, creative process and rigorous time management
*Proficiency with stage lighting, sound, and electricals  
*Ability to drive a van is a plus
*Available to work weekdays and weekends dependent on production needs, flexibility is a must
