The Playground NYC allows dancers to experience various choreographic styles and ideas, engage with a new community of dancers, and gather resourceful information and inspiration from the array of choreographers involved. In turn, established choreographers are paid for their creative investigations, are given free space to explore new movement with professional dancers, and are provided with the opportunity to establish relationships with new dancers and fellow choreographers.

BIO:
Anne Plamondon’s dancing is characterized as captivating, fluid, gracious, versatile, and radiant. Classically trained at the National Ballet School of Canada and the Banff Centre for the Arts, Anne Plamondon graduated from the École supérieure de danse du Québec in 1994. She danced professionally in Quebec and abroad, performing in works by acclaimed choreographers such as Jiří Kylián, Hans Van Manen, Johan Inger, Gideon Obarzanek, Angelin Prejliokaj, Itzik Galili, and James Kudelka, and creating lead roles in works by Paul Lightfoot, Rui Horta, Patrick Delcroix, Peiter DeRuiter, and Crystal Pite, among others. Anne joined RUBBERBANDance Group in 2002. The affinity was immediate, leading to an ongoing artistic relationship. Anne acted as co-artistic director from 2006 to 2015, before moving on to develop her own company in 2018. Skilled as a coach and teacher, she participated in the development of the RUBBERBAND Method, which she teaches internationally. Anne has been featured in several dance films, and in 2010, she created and performed in Red Shoes, winner of the 2010 Golden Sheaf Award at the Yorkton Film Festival. She choreographed and performed 2 solos in collaboration with actress, writer, director, and dramaturge Marie Brassard: Les mêmes yeux que toi (The Same Eyes as Yours) (2012) and Mécaniques Nocturnes (Night Mechanics) (2017). Her next work, a duet with Emma Portner, will be presented in Toronto’s Fall for Dance North in October 2018.
