Mantras in Motion is taught by Betti Joann Guerra

Sunday 3/21/21 at 3:15 to 4:15 PM ET

Class Description:

Mantras in Motion is a movement class designed by Betti JoAnn Guerra to culminate a space for individuals of all movement backgrounds to investigate the many facets of our humanity by adhering to simple tasks of repetition. Through moving meditations we will focus on the poetic narrations that reside within the body whether consciously or unconsciously. We will uncover the many variables that make up our human behavior such as "passivity" (the study of accepting, being still and not reacting) and its dual partner "activity" (the study of doing, responding and resisting). Within the nature of these dualities we will begin to unlock the pure joy that excretes from conducting corporeal labor and how it compliments the passivity of rest. In all of this, we meditate on the mundane and the minor in order to find the pure joy that surpasses external experiences however painful or satisfying. We let the honesty of these intimate dances and poems that we will create be our mantras for how we want to live.

Our festival passes are offered on a donation-based sliding scale, no one will be turned away because of a lack of funds.
