Have you ever seen this company/ before?
Tell us a bit about your history with this group/performer?

I have been a fan of Mare Nostrum Elements for a few years now and I try to go to as many of there performances as possible.

What was your favorite moment(s)? What inspired you?

I purposefully did not do any research on the choreographers or their pieces so I can experience in the moment. My favorite moment was watching In the Noodle piece by Jiemin Yang. The piece was so moving and inspired, then when I read it was based on a traditional noodle dish, I thought it was so clever and ingenious!  You never know what inspires an artist and how they interpret.

Describe as plainly and specifically as you can what actually happened during this performance.
We are looking for non-judgmental reporting. No need for complete sentences. Phrases and word lists are fine. YOU CAN DESCRIBE : the artists, their activities, the movement, the qualities of movement, the music, the use of time, the use of space OR anything else you observed.

The 3 pieces presented were so vastly different in tone and theme and yet all three were extremely moving.  In the Noodle (Excerpts) and Portraits of the Moon (Excerpts) by Jiemin Yang were moving, funny and had a sense of nostalgia. Below the Bottom by Susanne McHugh was raw and heartwrenching yet with a glimmer of hope and resilience.

Would you like to see this performance / company again?
Would you recommend it to a friend? Why or why not?

This company always does interesting and ground breaking work. They give artists the opportunity to experiement which is very rare.
